When did non woven fabric technology come into being
At the beginning of the 20th century, the principle of nonwoven fabric technology was discovered, but it had not yet been commercialized. The industrial-scale production of nonwoven fabrics began with the U.S.-based Felt Company in 1939 and was later adopted in Europe. China's development started relatively late (in the late 20th century), but it has made rapid progress through technological iteration.
Key innovations in nonwoven fabrics include the expansion of polymer-driven packaging and clothing in the 1970s, as well as the maturation of advanced processes such as meltblown filtration (masks) and spunspunbond composites (SMS medical materials) in the 21st century. Its core objective is to replace traditional textiles by simplifying production, reducing costs and meeting disposable/short-term use demands (for example, medical supplies, packaging).
